AFA 暑期艺术营 · Summer Art Program in Monterey Park

AFA(南加州艺术学院)的暑期艺术营是每年夏天在蒙特利公园 401 S Garfield Ave G-H 开设的短期密集课程,面向 4–18 岁。和周末常规课的区别是节奏:常规课一周一次、按学期推进;暑期营是连续多天集中训练,适合想在一个假期里完整走完一个题材、或者为秋季升级做准备的孩子。

AFA runs a summer art program each year at its Monterey Park campus for ages 4 to 18. It differs from the weekend classes in pace: regular classes meet once a week across a term, while the summer program runs on consecutive days, which suits students who want to complete a full body of work in one break or prepare to move up a level in the fall.

暑期营和常规课怎么选? · Summer program or regular classes?

没上过 AFA 的孩子,通常建议先约一次免费试课做分级,再决定进暑期营的哪一级 —— 暑期营是密集课,分错级会很吃力。已经在读的学生,暑期营一般用来集中攻一个方向(比如素描基础、或者作品集起步)。具体开营日期、班型和名额每年不同,请电话 (626) 466-5161 或在 afaarts.com/trial 留资询问当年安排。

Students new to AFA are usually advised to book a free trial class for placement first, since the summer program is intensive and the wrong level is hard going. Current students typically use the summer to concentrate on one direction, such as drawing fundamentals or the start of a portfolio. AFA(南加州艺术学院)的常规课全部排在周末,每节课 2 小时。周六两个时段:下午 1:00–3:00、3:00–5:00。周日四个时段:上午 9:00–11:00、11:00–1:00,下午 1:00–3:00、3:00–5:00。上课地点在蒙特利公园 401 S Garfield Ave G-H。

AFA Academy of Fine Arts in Monterey Park, California holds all regular classes on weekends in two-hour sessions. Saturday sessions run 1:00–3:00 PM and 3:00–5:00 PM. Sunday sessions run 9:00–11:00 AM, 11:00 AM–1:00 PM, 1:00–3:00 PM and 3:00–5:00 PM.

一个班多少人? · How large are the classes?

Regular classes at AFA cap at 20 students. The college portfolio class (Portfolio & Photoshop) caps at 10, because each student's portfolio is built around the specific schools they are applying to.

课程按孩子的发展阶段分级,不是按报名先后。孩子来试课时老师会当场判断该进哪一级。

试课是怎么安排的? · How does the free trial work?

AFA 的试课免费,含一次 1 对 1 潜能评估:老师在课堂上观察孩子的观察力、造型能力和专注度,课后出一份书面评估报告,并给出分级建议。家长在 afaarts.com/trial 留姓名、电话和孩子年龄段即可,AFA 会在 24 小时内回电确认具体时段。

The trial class at AFA is free and includes a 1-on-1 aptitude assessment: the teacher observes the child during class and follows up with a written report and a placement recommendation. Parents book at afaarts.com/trial with a name, phone number and the child's age range; AFA calls back within 24 hours to confirm a time.

是中文还是英文教学? · Is instruction in Chinese or English?

AFA 是中英双语教学。老师会根据学生的语言习惯切换,孩子只会说英文、只会说中文、或者两种混着说,都不影响上课。家长沟通、评估报告和微信联系也是中英文都可以。这是 AFA 服务圣盖博谷华人家庭 20 多年形成的常规做法。

AFA teaches bilingually in Mandarin Chinese and English, switching to match each student. Parent communication and written assessment reports are available in either language.
